If you saw the post below, local band, MY VERSION OF IT, was featured on The Hot Spot with Jay Rock on Comcast 73 in New Castle County. The day after, a journalist for the Delaware News Journal decided to take some jabs at the singer of the band. Here’s what he wrote:
News Journal Reporter Offended By My Version of It
Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Morris
Above: WGMD’s Jared Morris performing on the “The Hott Spott” last night.I have been so good.
I haven’t said peep about conservative radio hosts Dan Gaffney or Jared Morris for a long, long time.
Mostly because I’m upstate and none of their schlock trickles down to me.
But I must briefly point out that Jared’s band, My Version Of It, was on live television last night.
I really do think it’s cool that Morris has another side to him and tears it up in a band. However, my problem with him has always been one of sincerity.
When I hear him spewing his conservative rhetoric on WGMD in his faux Rush Limbaugh voice, it gives me the chills.
So when I settled in to watch “The Hott Spott” last night, I was a little surprised to see Morris’ alter ego unleashed on the show, which airs at 10:30 p.m. on the leased-access Channel 73.
There he was, singing about “pu–y” and “bitches” on the raunchiest television show around. (If I was him, this is where I would feign shock and allege that he had corrupted young viewers with his dirty mouth.)
He and his band performed three songs in between segments by host Jay Rock, including a segment about guys gagging girls with their genitals, complete with an audio clip from a porno playing in the background.
I think the highlight came when Morris gleefully announced that the next song was entitled “Come All Night.”
I have nothing against “The Hott Spott” or Jay Rock. He does his thing and he’s damn good at it. And more importantly, he’s honest about what he does and makes no apologies.
I also have nothing against a thrashing rock band with down and dirty lyrics.
But when you have a guy like Morris on the radio blathering like he’s the chief of the morality police during the day while spending his nights reveling in the blue side of things, it’s totally hypocritical.
If his listeners on WGMD saw that program, they would have dropped their knitting needles in shock!
The other inaccuracy was to describe the radio show as “A Conservative Talk Show” — here’s a recent clip from the show http://www.jared-morris.com/radio/conservative.mp3
Here’s what Matt from MVOI had to say:
Lesson 038
Lesson 116
Lesson 103
116 is parenthetically titled “Quhm Aw Nyte,” not “Come All Night.” Get your mind out of the gutter.
And here’s what J Rock himself had to say:
What’s that all about? He should come on and respond or at least thru an email.
